1. Decide who is going to lead the team. 2. Hopefully, any potential leader should be an unincumbered, grass roots church member, excited to make "Jesus Known" in this way. 3. Gather a few people around you and fix a recurring start date. 4. Get in touch with us here at JesusLoves....., as we can provide a quantity of HiVis tabards with your own Jesus Loves .....logo, plus some hoops and pick up sticks, to get things started. We can also supply a generic type "Risk Assessment" document that your local council may want to see. 5. It doesn’t matter if it’s only a few who join with you to start with, six would be brilliant, we started with just the two of us. 6. Then just get cracking, it will work out, word will spread and people will want to join you, but we suggest you meet with them first, for coffee perhaps, to make sure you are in agreement. 7. Make use of your own dedicated web page here on this site, with at the very least, your litter picking adventure dates. 8. Don't hesitate to contact us for help, guidance or queries, we will do as much as we can to help you. It is always best to meet with your local council representatives, they will need to know what you are doing, and can provide a lot of help i.e arranging for your bags to be collected by their designated waste contractors, provide material (hoops & sticks), and even grants!! They should also be able to avoid any silliness by any official issuing fines because an item fell out of your refuse bag. Don't forget the risk assessment sheet, there is possibly a lot of nonsense in it (electric fences, bombs, asbestos concerns etc, probably will not apply, I guess at some point it will have to cover falling space debris or aircraft dropping out of the sky in front of you!) you can always strike through the not applicable items, but it does demonstrate to the authorities that you are professional and knowledgeable, it ticks their box. |
