Crawley Down is a beautiful village in West Sussex, situated between East Grinstead and Crawley, and about a mile from the border with Surrey.
In the 19th century, Crawley Down was known as a centre for prizefighting. Large and boisterous crowds were attracted to the matches, and local law enforcement turned a blind eye as the prizefights were a useful source of income for the village.
Nowadays it is mainly a peaceful, quiet village with a population of about 5000 people.

The village fayre is nearly upon us, and we are getting ready to be there, ready to help out, clean up a bit, and to have a friendly chat with our fellow villagers.

A bit about Mick Webber


Mick is married to Barbara and have 3 children, and 4 grandchildren, and has enjoyed a varied career. He has spent the last 30 years teaching Transport Law resulting in the last 7 years as a Technical Author. A man who described himself as “having it all” nothing prepared him for hearing the gospel for the first in 1987,an experience that proved truly life changing.

The message of the cross started a period of investigation and being quite a pragmatic man and firmly against religion this voyage of discovery resulted in him receiving Jesus as his saviour some six months later. His wife Barbara also made a similar decision to follow Jesus. Nothing motivates Mick more than sharing the love of Jesus and seeing lives changed. Mick has been a youth pastor, a local pastor and together with his wife currently run a community group as well as overseeing a number of other community groups within Jubilee Community Church East Grinstead. Life is often like a large jigsaw puzzle and without Jesus, as Mick discovered, there will always be a piece missing.
